About Progress Energy Center - Mahaffey Theater

Located in the heart of beautiful Downtown St. Petersburg, the newly renovated Progress Energy Center for the Arts – Mahaffey Theater is a 2030-seat cultural jewel featuring elegant ballroom space, spectacular waterfront views, and European box-style seating. Just steps away from the culturally vibrant Downtown and minutes away from white sandy beaches and world-famous museums, the Mahaffey hosts top-quality national and international artists and performances – Broadway, classical, pop, rock, comedy, dance, family, and the renowned Florida Orchestra.  Additionally, the theater supports the highly successful Class Acts program, which enables school children to experience the performing arts through in-theater performances as well as in-school outreach and extension programs.


 


Directions to Progress Energy Center - Mahaffey Theater

To arrive to the Theater from the NORTH (from TAMPA) or from the SOUTH (from SARASOTA), take INTERSTATE 275 directly into St. Petersburg. Exit on INTERSTATE 175-EXIT 22 and continue to its end. Exit 22/I-175 ends at a traffic light;

proceed forward 4 traffic lights. The fourth light is 1st Street. Turn left on 1st Street, the Theater will be on your right hand side.

The facility sits on First Street South between 4th Avenue South and 5th Avenue South. For the BOX OFFICE, turn right into the second gate marked GATE 1. The Theater LOADING DOCK will be just ahead. Park in LOT "A" for dock access.

The Progress Energy Center for the Arts - Mahaffey Theater is proud to comply with the Americans With Disabilities Act. We offer handicapped parking, curb cuts and ramps for easy access, theater seating to accommodate wheelchairs and companions, accommodations for sight impaired patrons, handicapped accessible restrooms, and assistive listening devices (available at the Theater Concierge Desk). A picture I.D. and refundable deposit are required at time of use for assistive listening devices.
